Jurassic Rock News

05.10.08

Last Saturday marked a milestone in the McCoy family.
Tony's daughter, Meghan, graduated from TCU in only four years with a BA in English and a minor in education.  Meghan already has a teaching job lined up at St. Andrews in south Fort Worth.  Meghan also plans to marry her longtime sweet heart Adam Kisler in December.  Congratulations Meghan!!!!!

We finally have our entire new demo CD posted on our Jurassic Rock audio page.  Please take a moment  to click over HERE to listen.  We had a great time recording and Mike Suell did a great job making us sound better than ever.  Everyone in the band got a chance to show their talents and abilities on various songs, but especially listen to Hotel California and Rocky Mountain Way.   Scott does some very intricate and very nice 12 string work on Hotel California and Dead or Alive, while Bob does one heck of a Talk Box lead on Rocky Mountain Way and a killer lead on Hotel.  And listen to the awesome harmonies and vocals laid down by Greg and Bob.

In other band news I bought myself a brand new toy this week.  As the old saying goes, ' I feel the need for speed.'  Ok, it's not a crotch rocket, but I am the proud papa of a new Suzuki C50 V800 cruiser.  I got her dressed up a bit Friday and I've been riding her all weekend.  I think I'll call her Bo-Bo because she is so darn pretty.    I included a couple of pictures below.  That's my daughter Alexandra with me.

That's all for now folks.  Let's know how you like the music and we look forward to seeing you at Hot Rods and Hoggs.

Due to circumstances beyond our control we had to cancel our gig Friday night.  We wish Salutes the best in the future.  In the meantime we are busy trying to put the finishing touches on our new demo CD.  We will have CD's available for all our FOJR's at all our future gigs.  See one of the band members for details at our next preformance.  BTW, Mike Suell, our recording manager, a downright awesome guitar player in his on right, has been doing an awesome job making JR sound darn great.  The reality is that Bob, Scott and Greg have been able to really show case their talents during the recording sessions and Mike is getting the best of JR in a relaxed and fun setting.
Coming soon are new JR t-shirts and JR coozies.  You just have to see these things.  Well that's all for tonight folks.  We love all our FOJRs!!!  Thanks for your support.

Remember:  Live, Love, Laugh and seek His grace always!

Hello FOJR's!!!  We're headed back to Hot Rods and Hoggs this coming Friday night from 9:30 to 1:30.  Please make plans to come out to Hot Rods and Hoggs and hang out with the band and some very cool folks and support us at one of our favorite venues.  Dont' forget to bring as many friends as possible and tell them about the traditional classic Jurassic Rock T-shirt give away.  I heard the Jurassic Rock t-shirts fetch quite a bit on the internet these days.  We look forward to seeing you there, Friday, Feb. 15.

We had a great time at JohnB's last Saturday night.  It's always good to see so many of our friends that we have made over the years.  Next up is GameDay in Mansfield.  I gotta' tell you, those folks in Mansfield know how to party.  It's been a killer crowd every time we play there.  Word has it that you better make reservations now.  I heard that some friends have invited quite a crowd.  As usual we are ready to give all of you a great show!!

BTW there was a young lady who was interested in buying one of our Jurassic Rock t-shirts at the end of the night.  If you happen to read this I want to apologize for not getting your shirt right away.  It's pretty hectic at the end of a gig so we hope you have not crossed us off your top five bands, ; )  Please come see one of us in Mansfield next week and we will make sure you get your shirt.

Calling all FOJRs!!!!!  Don't forget we are back at JohnB's Saturday night from 8:30 - 12:30.  We are sporting a bit of a new look with Larry Donovan taking over on keyboards for the retired John Jurik.  Larry promises to bring a whole new style and sound without stepping back from the level John took us to.  We look forward to seeing there Saturday.

01.06.08

Well here we go into 2008.  Once again we would like to thank our families for their support of our craziness and we would like to thank our loyal fans who follow us around the metro-plex and party with us everywhere we go.  THANK YOU FOJR's!!!!!!   (FOJR's are Friends of Jurassic Rock)

We had our first official practice as the newest edition of Jurassic Rock at Greg's house Saturday afternoon.  As you can see from the pictures below, we have a great time together in practice.  Rick Nettle gave Andre Lindsey, the new Jurassic Rock sound man, a quick tour of our sound system.  Andre has plenty of experience in his own right so he caught on quickly.  We will have his bio posted in the near future.  Larry Donovan, our new keyboard player, is ready to rock with us too.  His has been practicing diligently and will bring some great musical ability to our shows.

As for the band, Tony has decided to go to full time bass to allow Scott and Bob to concentrate on guitar parts.  Bob and Scott work extremely well together and both are great lead and rhythm guitar players.  This will also allow us to build up the bass side of the band as well.  We think this will give us a better overall sound.  By the way, Santa was sure good to Bob.  Bob found a beautiful double neck 12 string/6 string Agile guitar under his Christmas Tree.  Check the New Years pictures to see him holding his pride and joy.  It sounds wonderful on Hotel California.  Of course, it can't play itself so kudos to Bob as well.  He and Scott will burn the house down this year.

Tony and Kathy would like to announce that January 7th marks their 25th wedding anniversary.  How in the world did she put up with him all these years?  Congratulations Tony and Kathy!!!

OK, that's all for now.  Check back for updates as 2008 rocks along.  We look forward to seeing you this year.  Our first show is Saturday, January 12 at JohnB's in Arlington.  Check the main page for more details and directions.

Jurassic Rock

Our newest FOJR!!!!

12.31.07

Jurassic Rock had a very successful 2007 thanks to all our loyal fans that have supported us and followed us where ever we go across the Dallas Ft. Worth area.  There are so many folks to thank but the fans that we must thank first and foremost are our families.  We are so blessed to have wives and girlfriends that support our Friday night egos!  Second, we would like to thank all the night clubs that are always calling us to come back and entertain their loyal customers.  And finally, a big thanks to our Jurassic Rock fans.  Everywhere we go, we have the most awesome fans that we know and love to see.  Believe me when I say, we are blessed and honored to have all of you in our corner.

And now a bit of sad and good news; John Jurik, the Sheik of Treat-or-Treat, lead Na-na guy and keyboard player extraordinaire has decided to retire.  John came to Jurassic Rock several years back and was one of the big reasons we went to the next level of entertainment.  I tell you, you will not find a more professional Na-Na’er in Texas!!!  Just kidding John.  We wish him luck in his new endeavor, nursing a Jack Daniels from the comforts of his easy chair while looking through the Jurassic Rock achieves.  Also, Jurassic Rock would like to extend a special thanks to John’s lovely wife Cindy for putting up with the rest of us clowns for so long.   Thanks Cindy!

Replacing John is a great keyboard player in his own right, Larry Donovan.  In fact, his bio was so awesome and extensive that we thought he might bring his own supporting band to replace us!!  Seriously, Larry will bring his own flavor to the band and Jurassic Rock won’t miss a beat.  No pun intended.  We welcome Larry and his very beautiful fiancée, Jayne.  When Larry is not tickling the ivories or Jayne, he is playing around with nuclear materials for a living.  If we start glowing one night, you’ll know why!!!!

And last, we are losing the band's hardest working and most passionate member, Rick Nettle.  Rick is our sound mad man and he has put his heart and soul into Jurassic Rock.  We will certainly miss his enthusiasm and his hard work. It will be difficult at best to find someone to replace him.  We have another sound man who will join the band in the next few weeks.  Once he is aboard I will update the Bio page.

We will have some new and exciting features on our website in 2008 so check back often!!!

Thanks again to all the FOJR’s across Dallas Ft. Worth!!!!
